I am interested in doing some home video editing along with making slideshows of vacation pictures. I was wondering what software people are using, what you think about the software you're using, and what might be the best/cheapest way to go.

Any suggestions? Anything Free?

Thanks for the input.

P.S. - Running a PC with Vista.

I use Windows Movie Maker. It comes with Windows. Not the best but it works for me and the price is right.

I would say, yes. You can import pictures and have transistions done and other cool effects. Here is an example.... This video was done in Windows Movie Maker and the first half is only pictures, then goes to some video. This may answer if it does what you want.

For slide shows, go to

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/digitalphotography/photostory/default.mspx

does a nice job of putting pics together and making a slideshow, music, transitions and all.

This video was done in Windows Movie Maker ...

That was all done in WMM? Wow. Looks like I need to spend some time playing around with it. Thanks.

Is this only for XP? Is there something like it for Vista?
