Ren-C and Ren-T parts arrived Friday, so jumped on installing them into their boards (Thanks wJohn and Wayne!). Connected them today per the WIKI! (Thanks Raving Lunatic!) and VOILA! 2 Grinches, 2 REN-Cs, and 1 Ren-T operating on the first try.
Vixen test sequence exercised all channels.
I was really concerned about dimming the LEDs. I find they dim better than the incandescents I've got. (4 test strings, 2 incandescent, 2 LED)
Now, what's next? Oh yeah, I've GOT to get an enclosure like Wayne or Klanger!!:-)

Bob,
Cool man!
Like you I too got parts in for my Ren C's and ren T and couldn't wait to get them put together.
I put mine together last night. Got lucky and everything is working.
Here's my test setup:

Hey, thats a nice power supply you got there Jeepguy!!!
Mine looks strikingly similar. I used it to run my 5 ren64s last year. I will get a pic of it tomorrow.

You must be close to Hollywood.....that's NOT what my test set up looks like!....strings on the floor....Ren-T on the floor (short RS232 cable)...however, I've got the Grinches and Ren-Cs stacked (which I think is sorta cool) and powered by a HEATHKIT 1P-2718 power supply (circa 1980)..
Are those incandescents? Do they dim evenly?(i.e. same time, level)
I've got 4 strings in test. 2 incandenscent, 2 LEDs. The LEDs work evenly, that is they start, build, maximize at the same time and level. The incandescents start similarly but after a few minutes then they operate differently, ie they blink, come on at different times, almost become randomn. However the incandenscents are older strings (maybe set in their ways...)

Yes, they are incandecsants. Those four dim at the same rate, but they are all the same brand and are brand new. ($0.50 clearance at Lowes in January)I did some additional testing as I had some flickering on one of the Ren C's when I was dimming in the test mode. I plugged in a wreath that I've had and ran a sequence and it dimmed about a 1/2 second behind the 4 strings that you see here.
LOL. I wish I was near Hollywood. I was down in LA early last week and it was in the mid 80's. Not that it was that cold here. It was up in the 60's last week with one day topping at 70. I'm just East of Sacramento about 350 miles north of Hollywood.
That board I have everything on is just a piece of scrap I had because my water heater took a dump a few weeks ago and I had to redo the stand the water heater sits on.
My workbench is well worn underneath that plywood.

I mapquested Roseville. Seems there are two in CA. Two years ago I was living in Minden, NV, just over the mountains from you. As I recall, there always was the last big dump of snow around the end of March. So, shouldn't be too long before you can solder while wearing shorts...
