Trying to figure out if it'll be dark long enough this (and coming years) here in California now that daylight savings time will end the week after halloween instead of the last week of October. The kids usually quit coming in my neck of the woods around 8pm. (slackers...) Given the sunset at 5:58pm on that day, it won't be dark until an hour later, then only an hour before kids quit coming.

I have a comment for you....

dont plan on this year... or next....
look into a long term plan.... I have been doing halloween stuff here for over 20 years... last year I had over 350 kids go thru the line to my magic mirror... and another 200 plus that didnt want to wait in the line...

with their parents and others I imagine I had over 700 folks come to the house....
so my point is.... expect a small turn out in the start...
build something they want to see... it will keep them coming back....

and advertise .... I mean put out stuff that lets folks know you will be doing something that evening...

I made a ledtriks sign for this year to try for community involvement ....

in the past I put a sign in the yard asking for help from the local kids .... it is always pays off.... sure ya get the weird ones... but the fun ones show up too...

I guess the point Im trying to make it.... a big crowd doesnt happen over night....it takes work... maybe years of work...

and no matter what else happens.... even if no one shows... I enjoy building all it takes to make things work... I guess Im selfish on this subject... I kinda do it for me... others just happen to enjoy it too....

Actually from what I understand and have seen this is the new DST setup unless they change it back. So I would plan on DST being this way going forward....
