My wife (technically not yet married, but close enough), wanted me to ask -- are there any women on the forum or that are really into this?

I told her I've seen posts that people came here because their wives want blinky flashy next year, or that the wives help out with some of the displays. But I have definatley see more "my wife is going to kill me" and "don't tell my wife" e-mails on here. And I don't recall ever seeing a post from a female, but I could be wrong.

So, is this just a guy thing?

We do have at least 1 female member here. She goes by the username crazylightlady. She is into this more than some of the guys are.

My wife wants me to build her the gear, put up her lights, sequence the songs for her so she can take the credit for the display... That sounds about right, doesnt it? :)

My wife and I have been visiting Marty Slack's display for the past few years, and every time we go I've told her that I want to do that sometime. Well, this year was the last time that I was going to say "I want" to do that, and now I'm saying "I AM" going to do it.

She is fully supporting me and is excited to see it next season. I think she just might be a little worried about how much I'm going to do. I just keep telling her that it won't be as big as Marty's display.

Well my wife did give me permission to spend a "couple of thousand" on new gear this year, so she does get some credit (including spending $100 on embroidered LithgowLights.Com hats & shirts lol).

Alas I think I have about $200 of that $2k left, so we might have to re-negotiate that $ figure before too long :)
