ANyone interested in getting some highpower luxeon clones.. Almost as good as the luxeons.. just lots cheaper... Available in red, green, blue, white..
If i can order a thousand or so, i'm picking price point will be about about US$2.50 each plus freight..
Leds are ex Taiwan, so, i'd look to consolidate the freight.. I'd get some sent directly to the US ( someone would need to 'redistribute' them in the US ), and some directly here ( for NZ, Aussietrailia )

Since you have been working with these, a demo (photo's/videos) might help generate interest. I was about to pick upa a handful for myself to play with them because nobody else has posted anything.

I just ordered a set of all the colors for myself today lol! so, I'll give them a whirl myself also.
It also seems like they've cut there freight prices - shipping was only $6 for me for the LEDs, reflectors, mounts, etc.

Can i ask where you got them from, and how much?

I ordered from besthongkong - I'm sure there could be other/better/cheaper sites - but - they had them, and can ship them - so. But - if it comes down to getting more - I'm definatly interested - and could even distribute them/coop them depending on interests.

Thats where i got my last lot from.. Freight certainly was'nt too bad either.. I spent almost $500 with them on the last order..
However i'm pretty sure i can drive the price down further.

this is something i would like more info on, the idea of RGB spotights is a good one so the LED's are the first step i guess.

Hi All,
Prelimary estimate of price for 3W LED Stars ( Red/Green/Blue/White ).
10 units US$4.00 each
50 units US$3.60 each
100 units US$3.50 each
Freight ex $NZ will be approx US$12 to the USA, $US8.00 to Ozzie for a box of up to 100 or so.. Payment by paypal.... Let me know if you are interested.

Hi Scopia, an excellent idea.. Heres a datasheet for the 3W Stars..
I'm also lookign at the more 'naked' emmitters, which might be a better option, as we could build a metal backed pcb, and directly heat sink them.. If theres sufficent interest could also look to do 1W and also 5W LEDS.. The 5W Leds are expensive, and don't have very good life time though.. you're better to use 2 3W LEDS, unless space is a huge constraint.
I've had an excellent run out of theses devices.. You just need to understand that you've got to run them properly, they don't tolerate overheating or over current situations well.

Can I get some kind of comparison to see how bright these may be.
We have all seen or have access to Brian's Christmas Cannon video, lets use that as a base.
Brian how far apart were you cannons?
How far back from the wall were they?
How wide was the projection on the wall where you had good color.
Just looking at the speck sheets for the MR-16 vs the 3w it appears that a single 3w will be at least twice as bright as an MR-16 led.
I do not want to get into an argument on what the correct measurement of the output of an LED is.
I just want some input on how bright these may be and how many will be needed to effectively wash a wall in color.

Well, theres massive variation in MR-16 format lamps.. so, its hard to know which ones to compare it to..

Buy a few and have a play!! At a few dollars each you've got not a lot to loose.. As a guide line, i'f you want really impressive, i'd budget 1W/ square meter..
