I just ordered some of these 8 x 8 LED Matrix panels to use for my LEDTriks setup. They may be a little small but I was thinking of attempting to make a 2 x 2 setup of them and use 4 LEDTriks boards. Each panel is 2.37" square. It would give a size of 4.74" x 14.22" for one LEDTriks panel. I got a response from the seller and he said the LED's were 2200mcd.
Here is the ebay link.

The panels have a lower current rating then what RJ has designed the LEDTriks board for so the resistor value will have to be changed in order to use them.

I received the panels today and they look pretty nice. The LED's are on 5/16" centers so one LEDTrik panel has an overall dimension of 4 3/4" x 14 1/4". I have not powered one up yet to see how bright the LED's are but I will soon. My overall plan is to build a 2 x 2 setup to see how it works. Once I receive my first two LEDTrik boards I am going to build one up and see how good these work. If I can find a way to take a video I will.

I was originally looking at those also but they are a lot smaller than the ones I ended up getting. I think the ones I have may end up being to small for a LEDTrik but I am going to try it. The ones I got are 5mm LED's and the overall size is 60.2mm square. The bi-color ones are 3mm LED's and the overall size is 32mm square.

yeh they are small I was thinking of tieing two pixels together making them 4 LED's per pixel I wonder if that would work ok..depends I may have to put resistors in each leg to ballance out any voltage differences of the leds

Interesting idea of tieing the pixels together. Let me know how that goesif you test it.
