595/Grinch USB Drive

I was looking at the device again from SparkFun Electronics and at $18 I think maybe it should be suggested as a replacement for Parallel port problems people keep having.
Though maybe with a bit of driver help,74HC240 or something similar.

Is that based on the FTDI245 chip? I've got a project going using the module from mouser (DLP-UM245R)...is it more or less the same thing?

Dunno, I was intending to promote the other parts from DLP, however, this product is so much cheaper.

I think that’s why he suggested it also. He was watching the dongle thread and saw me mention it. I told him that it might be worth pursuing even if it didn't work.
