AC or DC for lights?

Since some of the controllers/dimmers run DC for output, has anyone noticed any difference/improvement in performance or bulb life running lights on DC instead of AC? Is it worth running lights strings with rectifiers for sequenced, or not, displays?

It depends upon the lights. Some elements are sensitive to ripple or lack there off.
