Does anyone know the difference in the Tunecast 2 and the Tunecast 3? other than the $30 price difference, I mean.
Better quality? better range?
Belkin's website doesn't really explain any difference in them, other than looks and buttons.
Walmart has Tunecast 2 for less than $20. They also have a Tunecast 1 for less than $15, but I don't want to be limited to just 4 freqs.

Tunecast 3
* Transmits on FM channels 88.1MHz 107.9MHz with 2 memory presets
* Offers cable management and status indicator for intuitive operation
* Includes power cord for battery-free operation, and a mounting clip
* Features a 20-hour battery life

For that price you could get a FM transmitter kit.

I use a Tunecast 1 ($4.00/Ebay) with no modifications other than wiring a 5v wall wart for power so I can remotely power it on. It is mounted inside a PVC endcap pod near the road. It works great from a distance of 1 house away on either side of my yard and across the street...

OP the Tunecast III gets horrid reviews, check Amazon... stick with a II or one of the Chinese xmitters mentioned in a few threads.

Hey acewingman ,
I thought these TUNECASTs needed to be programmed into the channel you want , each time you turn it on ? If this is true , what do you do , go out , remove it from your water-protector and set the channel ? Or does it automatically remember which channel you previously chose ?

Most people only set it once per year so it is not a big deal but to answer the question, the late model II's remember the channel on power down.

You can tell by the color but I forget.. I *think* the white ones remember but I forget now. It's on many of the Tunecast threads here and at PC.

The Tunecast 1 has a manual slide switch with a choice of 4 preset frequencies, and no way to tune any other freq. You have to manually move the switch to change it, or it's there to stay. And hope that 1 of those 4 freqs is open in your area.

The Tunecast 2 can be tuned to any normal FM radio freq, and has 4 programmable memory slots. It should stay on the last freq you set it on, especially if you put it in 1 of the 4 memory slots.

The Tunecast 3 seems to only have 2 programmable memory slots.

Some of them have an auto power off too... This is how to fix that....

You have to be sure which model you get and do the appropriate mods... Or just get the .2 watt one off ebay which is getting rave reviews to 1500 meters.
