Is $5.00 A good price for a 50 count led light string?

No too bad although probably not a great price. Plug them in to see if there is a flicker from the line frequency. Not everyone can see the flicker although I find it to be quite objectional and a good deal would not be sufficient reason to buy.

I recall one thread on PC where the author suggested flickering is not noticable when the viewer is 10 feet or more away. However, I pass a house on the way home from work and can see their leds flickering from a distance of 100 feet or more.

I bought a strand of LED lights and can see a flicker from a good 100ft. Even on houses with both LED and mini's, it is so easy to spot the difference. When I baught them, they were $7 a box with a $2 rebate so I paid $5 in late November. For the benefits of LED(electric bill and long-lasting) I can deal with the flicker although people think I am crazy for seeing it! Bottom line, wait till there at least $4 a box or lower. My two cent.s

you are not crazy! There half wave Leds and they dod flicker. Some people dont notice as bad as others. This is why i went to full rectified DC on the Lynx it is so when I start converting over to LEDS when the price comes down some more I want have to buy Full wave ( more money) Leds since the Lynx converts them to full wave for me.

I asked everyone that saw my led's that i have-they dont see anything. I dont really care, it's a light flicker, but after a while, i can't even look at them. And the 'crazy' part, that's what my neighbors say- neighbor on left, hates my guts since day one-neighbor across street, redneck, dosent care, neighbor on right, summer house and neighbor two doors down in both directions, good friends, don't see any flicker. They both also dont like my neighbor on the left and he dosent like them. The one's I got were the 'Home Accents' brand from Home Depot. Mabye other ones do better.
