Does anyone have access to a Windows-based configuration utility (along with source) for programming device addresses in DMX devices over the DMX link that could be made available and modified?
I'm looking into what it would take to make the existing (or proposed) Renard hardware speak DMX, and programming the device address is my biggest imponderable right now.

I know the DMX Pro claims to be "RDM enabled". I'm not sure what that means but might be a start.

BTW if someone has some "mad coding skills" my guess is we could make the Open DMX dongle speak RDM.

Here is another thought.
How about making DMX 511 and 512 the starting address values. The sequence of events would be.
1. Set 511, 512 to desired start address (IE 01, 44 = 300)
2. Power on renard
At boot the renard would look at these two values and set its starting address based on them. While this would only happen on boot users would need to be carefull about using these values (511,512) for dimming (power loss could change all their starting addresses). You may want to suggest that these two channels are "keep out" channels that aren't to be used for dimming.
If you have a programming jumper it might be better to have that set, and power cycle. That allows people to use 511, and 512 w/o the power cycle address reset issue.

Rj,
Is us a jumper that allows you to set the base address of the lynx and then that stay until replaced even without power. Look at this post

I guess great minds think alike. :)
Any details on which dmx values are being "looked at?"
