03-08-2012, 01:25 PM
hey bill, tried to post this over at luo but it wouldnt let me. here is my post:

Well i was reviewing the registration for this year and noticed a increase from last years cost. just wondering why such a big jump? 40 bucks is starting to get a little steep for me to come down for a few hours and head home. i know for some people it works out well esp if your coming for Friday and Sunday. but what about some of us that only come for the one day?

i really hate to miss this year but im starting to look at a nice chunk of change to come down for a few hours. love the people and the event but gotta watch my money.

sorry just throwing out my opinion.

now i noticed that the meet and greet is included in that price, but what about us who wont be going to that an only coming for the day??

ukewarrior
03-08-2012, 10:30 PM
Someone will post the official price soon.
BUT, the $40 was a typo and will be corrected.

So, everyone should be planning to come !

BHoff
03-09-2012, 12:51 PM
Sorry about the typo. We at LUO are always trying to find ways to cut costs, and this year is no exception. Our goal is to get as many people in attendance as possible, to share their ideas and experiences, and to have a fun time doing it. Hope to see you there. Also, the Agenda will be posted soon.

We are getting ready to announce our 2012 Agenda on our site at www.lightupohio.com . We still have a few more "Elf-Ormation" stations available. You may ask "What is an Elf-Ormation station"? Well, it's a way for you to show others your display projects, and to share with them your ideas. We will supply you with a venue to meet, one on one, so you can give back to the community. We are setting aside a couple of hours in the afternoon for attendees to browse "Elf-Ormation" stations, and learn from others. Let me know if you are interested, as we need to wrap this up by the weekend.
Hope to see everyone at LIGHT UP OHIO 2012!! MAY 18th and 19th. Bill

I would like to come, but my wife and son have plans so I will have my 6yo daughter with me that day. Can she tag along or do I need to register her? She is well behaved, but I am afraid she will get board. I'm also a little afraid of her seeing the Buckeye Santa presentation.

I am new to this whole Blinky Flash thing so this would be my first year. Any thoughts from you veterans on bringing her?

The Buckeye Santas are a Professional Santa organization, and they are recognized as one of the best in the country. Light Up Ohio is always trying to bring you the very best in the Holiday Lighting world, and these guys are the "ULTIMATE". Santa Eddie will show you how to be the very best Santa you can be, and you can learn more about their very unique organization. Chuck Smith, in PC magazine, has talked about how important it is to learn how to be a great Santa. Come to Light Up Ohio 2012 and learn from the very best. The Buckeye Santas will be "Exclusive" to LUO.
This will be the first year for our new location, and it should be the best year ever.

Here are a few things that will be covered at Light Up Ohio 2012.

1.Santa Eddie, from the Buckeye Santas (www.buckeyesantas.com), will show you how to "Get your Santa On". He will discuss how to be the best Santa you can be, and share with us some tips and techniques of being a professional Santa.

2.David Jones will show us, from start to finish, how to build our very own CoroStar, Coro Luminary, and Mega Ball. He will show us how to include, and wire, RGB Modules and DMX controllers to these items. And if that’s not enough. All of the finished projects will be given away during our prize drawing at the end of the day. Everything, from this demo, is donated by David Moore of HolidayCoro.

3.David Bruce, from Displaysinmotion, will show us some of new products from LOR, and give tips on how to incorporate some of LOR’s great products into our displays.

4.Greg Jones will discuss how to incorporate your Website with the Social Media to help you reach your full potential.

5.Carrie Sansing will show how to restore a Blowmold from start to finish. She will be stripping the paint off of the Blowmold and showing how to restore it to new condition.

6.David Jones will be demonstrating the use of Pixels, and helping us understand the complexity of this technology. David is a master at cutting through the confusion and explaining things so that everyone can understand.

This is just a small list of what will be going on at Light Up Ohio 2012 (May 18-19th). We will also be offering several Elf-Ormation Stations. These are one on one Stations that will discuss many different subjects. Things like using LOR software and hardware, how to show video movies/animation on your house/garage, and how to get free banners and mount them in your yard, just to mention a few. Also, there will be lots of personal projects set up for you to discuss with the people that made them.

It’s going to be a fun 2 days, hope you can make it. Check out all the details at www.lightupohio.com. Light Up Ohio 2012 May 18th and 19th.

Ps Yes, the very popular Swap Meet will be going on, too.

Some people get a little confused when they see our name "Light Up Ohio". They think that since it's called that, we only invite people from Ohio to our Annual Event. Nothing is further from the truth. Lighting Enthusiasts from Ohio are very serious about their displays, and we love to share ideas with everybody. There is nothing better than getting a group of Lighting Enthusiasts together to discuss new ideas, and to give them a venue for sharing and teaching what they have learned.
That's what this whole thing is about. Helping others and "Making Memories".
EVERYBODY is invited to Light Up Ohio 2012. We have had over half the States represented at Light Up Ohio, plus Canada, and even one time Australia. So if you are on the fence about attending an event, and you are a little reluctant to attend, come to Light Up Ohio 2012. I guarantee you will feel at home, learn something to take home to your own display, and most importantly have lots of FUN with a great group of people.
HOPE TO SEE YOU AT LIGHT UP OHIO 2012 MAY 18th and 19th. You can Register at www.lightupohio.com

Where can you spend a day enjoying the friendship and companionship of the nicest people?

Where can you gain a ton of knowledge in a few short hours?

Where can you see, touch, and/or buy the latest products?

Where can you meet one on one with experts willing to share their experiences?

Where can you meet Santa and invite him to your display?

Where can you go to win amazing door prizes?

The one answer to all of these questions is Light Up Ohio 2012. Yes, Light Up Ohio will provide this and a whole lot more. The agenda is filled with great topics and some of the most knowledgeable leaders in the industry. And of course, there is the opportunity to renew friendships and make new friends.

Wow, do you realize it’s only three weeks until Light Up Ohio 2012? Have you registered yet? If not, there is a convenient link a few lines down.

We’ve had this in the past, but this year it will be expanded upon, and we hope you enjoy it.

I twisted my arm and my wife agreed. I'll just work when I get back in the evening. Meet and greet is up in the air but I can probably make it, just fashionably late by a couple hours. :)

Light Up Ohio would like to THANK Bronners, for their continued support. Bronners is the largest Christmas store in the United States. Plus, it's one of the biggest ones in the World. We are so proud that they have decided to support Light Up Ohio for the second year in a row. It is very humbling to know that Light Up Ohio, "Exclusively", has their support, and we are very happy to showcase them at our event.

Well Light-Up-Ohio is almost here!
For those of you that will be attending our Meet & Greet on the 18th, and are or would like to, participate in the White Elephant Gift Exchange, all you need to do is bring a "wrapped" Christmas related item. It can be something you already have, or you can purchase something. You can spend as much as you like, but the general rule-of-thumb, is too keep it at a $20 max. We have a flowchart (http://www.lightupohio.com/apps/forums/topics/show/7222476-luo-m-g-white-elephant?next=) (thanks to Terry P.) , that will give you a pretty good idea on how it works. It's a lot of fun and you never know what you will end up with!

Have questions, please feel free to ask!

See you all in 2 days!!!

Having never been I was wondering as far as vendors go what can be expected at Light Up Ohio? Will they have some things for sale or is it a matter of they'll be showing things off and we just place orders then or later when we get home?

Thanks!

WOW, what a great event. It turned out 10 times better than we expected. I Double everything Jeff said in the previous post. There were a lot of people involved in the planning of LUO this year, and we really appreciate all of their help. One special Thanks goes out to someone that stayed out of the limelight, but we couldn't have done it without her. Laura Davis picked up, and catered all of the food on Saturday, and it was great. David Moore from HolidayCoro was a big contributor. Personally, I use a lot of his products, and they are always the hit of my display. Thank you, David. Also, to me anyway, the presenters, can never get too much recognition. They are the backbone of any mini event, and we THANK them from the bottom of our hearts.
I have gotten several emails already from people telling me how much they enjoyed LUO, and can't wait until next year.
I just put some Pictures out on www.lightupohio.com, under Light Up Ohio 2012. I haven't had time to put names to faces yet, but I will in the next couple of days. Enjoy!!!
