Just an fyi about Action Lighting C9 spooled strands. These strands will not work with the current strobe design that is supplied by Darryl Brown of www.christmaslightshow.com.
I was informed and it was shown to me at the NJ Mini by Glenn, aka GS.
The new version of the strobe that is being supplied for the 2007 Christmas season is supposed to be compatible with these c9 starnds but that will need to be determined.

The C9 stringers Glenn Stewart used for his Darryl Brown Strobes can be found at the following link. I should have made another thread for a new vendor, but this is in response to Brian's info about the strobes.

jeffI know this is an old thread, but does anybody know why the Action Lighting spools didn't work with the strobes? Aren't they just sockets and wire?
The reason that I was wondering was that I picked up a C9 spool on Ebay and I am thinking I may use some of these strobes with it (haven't bought them yet). I E-mailed the seller and he said that he didn't remember where he got the spool, but he had bought stuff from Action Lighting before and it could have been from them.

Omzig,
The reason the Action Lighting C9 sockets do not work with the strobes from Christmas Light Show is because the socket is too deep for the strobes to seat fully and make consistent contact. Or it could be that the base of the strobe is too short, you pick. In any event a fix would be to trim down the sockets a bit so the strobe could screw further into the socket. I am not sure if this is still the case with the Action Lighting C9 strings because I have not seen any of them since 2007.

I found that the All American Lighting socket was not only shorter, it was also a little flexible at the top. This caused it to give a little when the strobes were tightened down. It actually makes a very good watertight seal.
I tried several other styles that I had and none of them worked very good.
Glenn tried bending the contact tab up in some of his sets, but the poor contact in the strings that were too tall actually killed quite a few of his strobes. To his credit, Darryl B replaced all the bad ones. Great guy that Darryl!
I tried another technique with some of the longer sockets. I clamped my belt sander to the bench and locked it on. Then I ground away a little of the socket and it seated OK. The problem was getting the trim just right so as to keep the watertight seal. If the bottom of the strobes were tapered like the sockets, it wouldn't be a problem. But they are flat and stop the socket dead. If the tip isn't solid against the contact tab... arcing and failure are the result.

Has anybody ordered any of the strobes from action lighting?
