mmulvenna hasn't been hanging around DIYC for a bit, but here's a link to a very cool video about the train he built for 2011. You will be amazed at what he's created!

Is he the guy that started the how-to in the DIYC newsletter two years ago? Pretty Awesome

Thanks for posting it Dirk.

Yes, I finally got back to it. Sorry for not being around in a while. Summer travels in the motor home and then lots of time beta testing LSP.

For those interested... here are a few facts.

Track and trestles made from scrap 2 x 6.
Engine fabricated from PVC pipes of various diameters, cereal bowls, plastic funnels and High density plastic.
Engine cab and cars made from painted coro....
Engine undercarriage made from aluminum L and Plywood
Wheels are attached to the axle which has a chain sprocket and chain that is attached to the sprocket on the motor. This provide 2 drive wheels.
Motor is a 24 v wheel chair powered by 2 35 amp hr 12 v sealed batteries.
I built a motor controller that provide PWM with a RC receiver that receives on/off, directional, and speed from an RC transmitter.
Connected a 24 to 12 volt reducer to power the lights so they draw evenly off of both batteries.
Master battery cutoff and Light switch.
Hour, volt, amp, and power (watts) gauges to be added yet.
Lots of other ideas for additions in the coming years.
