What causes sequence channels to be blank/empty?

I've opened a few sequences that people were kind enough to share with me, and at least half of them show up with no channels on the left hand side? What causes this and is there a work around?

I'm guessing that the "profile" was not included with the .vix sequence.
Ask for the copy of their profile, and then see if you can open the file(s).

There is (detach from profile), but the person you got the sequence from has to do the procedure.

or better yet - ask them to 'flatten' it - that way you retain the preview image (if any) and all channel numbering/coloring. This can help with migrating them to your own display elements.

I will request this, they were nice enough to provide them for me, so I don't want to burden them too much
