How many lights did you have this year, and how does it compare to last year??

We have over 12,100 lights this year, covering 2 yards. This is an increase from the 9,300 lights we had in our yard last year.

Looks like I screwed up the poll a little...hopefully it won't matter much... I missed 12k to 16k...

I have about 7,000 up that are Static but ran with a Grinch (no FM transmitter) bought about 15,000 I am hoping to hit 29,950 lights. The reason being I calculated power and that is as far as I can push it without needing a 200A line

Last year was my first, I had 7,000 lights and 40 channels or stripboard 595. This year I have just over 20,000 lights, and 104 channels of Renard 64.

I am already gearing up for next year, I am planning for over 40,000 lights, and 250 channels.

Last year I probably had about 5000 lights static. This year over 9000 controlled. I'll try to double that to 18000 when I get the mini forest done and several grass displays since I had to rip out all the dead bushes that expired because of the drought conditions.

Very true. I am going to build a digital amp meter that I can wire into the subpanel and my breaker box and have my speakers on high and it makes a loud buzzing sound when the Amps get to high.

had 16,000 up from 0 last year. Mini-lights are kind of like money - 16K doesn't go that far anymore.

For this year I was able to get 48 channels working with 6,500 mini lights and 6 100 watt flood lights. I need a bigger tree and more lights. Going to try to get all 128 up for next year with around 20,000 lights.

Another input on something folks might want to share...

- 2 year ago, I ran 8 channel straight from my parallel port.
- Last year, I ran 45 channels from a 64 channel olsen.
- This year, I ran 58 channels from my 64 channel olsen.
- Next year...who knows...heh. Want to go Renard for next year.

I just scored enough for 33,000 lights next year. First on my list this spring/summer is getting a 60A 240V subpanel put in. I am going to get a 200A one so I can put in 100A 240V breaker if we ever get a 200A upgrade :D

Well , being new , I did not get to do a blinky this year . Although , I DID have over 10,000 lights up .
But , NEXT year ...
I have a 320 channel coming and a 64 channel as well .
And already picke up over 60,000 lights ( after Christmas clearance ) along with um-teen extension cords .
So ... hopefully , next year will be one for all locals to remember .
( still trying to figure out a cheap way to do a large countdown timer that will go near my rooftop - :( - these things are NOT cheap ! )

900 lights this year.....static. So sad and pathetic.

Next year though looking at 384 channels and 60,000 lights. Already have family slave labor lined up.

If I get my Gemmy tree's hacked...I could be at over 1k channels...all DMX.

Had somewhere around 7-8k this year. Up from zero last year. To increase the count, I'm gonna have to ether buy some LED's from the PC group buy or wait until September when they start getting put out again as there were almost no light left over in my area after Christmas.

2007, roughly 2800 bulbs lit. 28 channels@ 100 bulbs each

2008 is expected to be over 10,000 bulbs. 128 channels @ 70-100 bulbs each

As well as a Ledtriks.

Going to be a busy building season.

Over 360 channels from our own made 8 Santa boards. Had 110 + or - a few SSR's deployed.

10,800 lights just in the mega tree alone.
All up over 30,000
Will add a few more this year I guess.

I had about 4500 static lights this year.
I have over 77,000 lights for next year
I have to do some major circuit upgrades, and build a few more controllers :)

I had a whopping 100 lights out this year, it was a single string on a grapevine wreath which I made from my own grapevine. For next year I have purchased about 7000 lights plus 736 feet of ropelight. Most of the ligths are LED with the exception of those which came on the yard decorations. those will be changed out within a couple of years as I want an all LED display.

I thought about this thread while watching the latest Netflix arrival 'Deck the Halls' recently. While it's a trite story, the main theme is a guy's escalating obsession for more and more Christmas lights, his goal to 'be seen from space'. Among many other things, he ends up with a roof LEDtrix II rivaling the replay screens at NFL stadiums. The bar has been raised for all you 'more is better' junkies....
