Hi Guys,

I'm new to the forum here, and just happened to stumble in here the other day, looking for ideas of things to make for Christmas. This is a great and very informative site!

Up until 2 weeks ago, I worked as a logic programmer and electrical supervisor for a local company. Have since been laid off, quite unexpectedly. Needless to say things have gotten rough in a pretty short time.

Any words you might offer to the man upstairs would be greatly appreciated. I have a 10 year old and this is going to be a rough Christmas if something does not develop soon.

Also if you guys have any suggestions for inexpensive decorating for Christmas, please do not hesitate to PM me, if nothing else we can decorate and just enjoy being a family.

Thanks!

Mike

I will keep you in mine.

You should/have to decorate, even modestly. It is our Lord's birthday celebration.

Absolutely!

I had a neighbor give me some old light strands and I used the light pro thing that I read about on here to get them all going! I also had some packages of old plastic cups and have made some sparkleballs.

Thank You for keeping us in mind, this is a very unfamiliar situation for us, but I know in his hands, we are in good hands.

Definitely know how you feel, only time I have ever been laid off happened to me two weeks before Christmas. That was 15 years ago but still makes me cringe to think about. Will be praying for you, also what area do you live in? A lot of people on this site are in the electrical field and may have some leads on work. I know were hiring in mid Mississippi....

Its funny how adversity can show you your strengths and weaknesses. A friend of ours gave me a whole big tote of lights, and my son and I spent 3 hours getting the ones working that we could using all the parts from the tote. We had a blast, but there was a very sad note in the time that we shared. I could not remember the last time I spent that much time with him. Up until now my work load and schedule was so demanding that it seems, much to my shame, that my time with him was limited.

I realize that now, and was humbled by the experience. He is a great kid, and smart as a whip, and .......forgiving.

Christmas might be think for us this year, but, I think the best gift I could ever have gotten unwrapped itself as he and I worked on those tangles of lights!

Just a quick update and huge word of thanks!

I went to Tulsa for an interview with a very lucrative company, and landed the job! They made me an offer that far exceeded my expectations!

Thank each and every one of you for your prayers and words of encouragement during this rough time!

It went very well! Thanks!

I see you are into RC stuff....oh yet another thing we have in common! By the way, I note you were born July 25th of 67, and I was June 25th of 67, that makes you a whipper snapper!
