I just thought that I would take a minute and show off my mega tree star. I have large oak trees in my front yard and I usually suspend the tree from one of the limbs. The star is 3' tall and has 600 bulbs (300 white 300 blue). I am switching the strands in groups of 50, which can give a nice twinkle effect. The tree strands (32 this year) are tied to the bottom of the star, staked to the ground, and are pulled tight as I hoist the star. The tree works out to be about 16' tall, so it is not quite as 'mega' as a lot of the ones on this site, but it works for me.

I am using a Renard 64 and have a custom SSR enclosure just for the tree. The tree is using 44 channels by itself. Thanks to all contributors for helping me create my first dynamic display.

Merry Christmas!!

Kevin,

Interesting twist for building a star. Can you provide a few pictures with the lights on? Thanks.

Here are a couple of shots. Sorry about the quality, but I have never had any luck with photos of lights. Another note on the tree; prior to animating, I used multi-color C9 strands for the tree. The whole tree used to draw about 18 amps.
