I always did the lights on the front of my house (usually 10,000 or so). However, since I'm going "animated" now, I'm pretty sure i'm going to have to move it to the side of the house. Why? The fire department is about 3 blocks from us and our road is one of the three ways they get to the main drags. Therefore me having any traffic will result in a nice cease and desist. The side of the house is very stark. It basically a two story wall (no windows). However, the backyard is HUGE and EMPTY.

My question is...have you seen any displays or have links that show what people did in a sort of "open" environment (i.e. no house backdrop).

I'll still leave a few 1000's lights up front...but the back is where the action will be.

The side of my house is what faces the street so all I can decorate is the side and the backyard. I'm not sure of my exact layout yet (I just moved in two weeks ago) but I will use alot of yard decorations like inflatables and such.

I have verylitle house exposed to the street. and my driveway is in front of that. I setup in my side yard. I used my megatree as my backdrop.
