LOR S3 Software running Renard equipment

I want to use LOR S3 with my Renard equipment. It looks like I can use a USB to DMX adaptor. I found 3 different possibilities:

Well - definitely not the E1.31 bridge - at least *yet* as there is no support for it in the current release which is unfortunate as ALL of my gear will be driven by E1.31 this year...

As for the DIY dongles - I heard there was an issue with RJ's where the channel numbers get offset but there is a fix coming out soon. For RPM's I haven't heard either way and I haven't gotten around to trying it quite yet -- maybe I will try that tonight if I get a chance (I have RPM's dongle and his E1.31 bridge).

A real Enttec Pro dongle will definitely work OK.

OR... you could loosen the grip on LOR to work on the hardware that YOU want to use and just run your show on xLights which is free and will allow you to just everything short of a toaster. Checkout xLights, I think you'll like it...it reads LOR and vixen sequences.

I haven't heard if xLights can take in S3 sequences however - if so then it's definitely an option for me otherwise my upgrade will be more for fun or smaller shows like the 4th or Halloween.

I just wanted to pull this back up and see if anybody has had any success with running renard equipment from LOR software. I don't want to purchase something to find out it doesn't work. So far I'm not having too much luck with the enttec open dmx. I don't know if:
1 I don't have the DMX programmed correctly in the PIC,
2 the DMX to RJ45 cable isn't the correct pins or
3 the Enttec doesn't work like they say it will.

I can't say if LOR S3 will run Renards running DMX firmware. I have some of the hardware, but don't have S3. I have been thinking of purchasing the upgrade, just so I stay somewhat current, but since I don't use LOR S2 for running my show, it's not at the top of my list.

I do know that getting the cabling correct will help. The output of the Enttec needs to be "translated" to the Renard wiring, which is exactly OPPOSITE from a connection to an LOR controller, meaning that pins 4 and 5 are swapped between Renard and LOR.

Does the Enttec Open have a utility that will do a test output? The Enttec Pro does and I sometimes use it to test things out. This will eliminate S3 as a problem...

I ran a mixed LOR and Renard system this year for Christmas using LOR S3. I everything as DMX. I was running the LOR off the LOR interface and the Renard using DIY DMX dongle. I could have run everything off a single interface if I wanted to. The system ran completely on its own for 2 weeks while I was out of the country in December with no problems. It was set up on a laptop that was never turned off for December.

I use an ENTTEC Open to control a set of 50 WS2801 Pixels through one of the Ray Wu factory hacked 6803 adapters, and with a rainbow flood extreme with no pboblems. I could be comparing apples to airplane wheels, but the ENTTEC Open is working OK for me. Have you looked in the DMX section of the LOR help forum for information about the Renards and S3? I recall seeing some discussion but don't recall the subject matter...
