Hey all... new guy starting to do some reading.

What's your optinions on stepping down the voltage running to the SSR's, I am running LED lights which overal are low wattage. I am thinking of using the Renard 64 system.

I am not an electrician but I also do not want to burn the house down.

How safe is this really and what are the risks. Ie: Overloading the house breakers

I was thinking of stepping down the voltage? Not sure what that means for AMP's or if it will power the lights, but also not sure if I should run a separate panel as well or a fuse line?

Also if someone can check my math... I have 70 LED lights per string running at 4.8 watts... which is 4.8/110 V = 0.04 amps/string . Say I wanted 10,000 lights or 10,000/70 = 142 strings. My total amp would be 142*.04 = 6 amps. Not sure if that is correct, and if it is what is really means.. What voltage can I step down to and what breaker should I use to be safe?

Thanks

What are you concerned about? Six amps is not a high current as far as household current goes. Six 100W incandescent bulbs comes to about the same current, and your typical clothes iron or bread toaster is more than that.

If I were you, I wouldn't bother. The benefits are probably non-existent, and you would have to do a lot of surgery on the LED strings.
