Yeah! Wayne is dead on. First comes the press... Then comes the stampid! I keep thinking the traffic would drop back once the news paper and tv story were forgotten. Jump in my company car and head off to one of our sites.. enjoying the local radio station when what do I here.. Them giving directions to our house. ... on my way back what do I here .. them talking about the show again and given directions again. I'm going broke handing out candy canes. One guy comes up and says "man I wish I had heard your don't turn around in peoples driveway anoucement about two minutes earlier" and I said why. He says "I was turning around in the driveway down the street here and ran over their mailbox and now I have to replace it." and I said please tell me you didn't tell them you were on your way here did you! he says "No". I said thanks! LOL

This is what you are in for! Ha Ha Ha Ha !!!!!

Good work. I had the interview last night, so I expect it to be used as a fiiller on my local station late next week. We were in the local paper today, so I think it could be a busy night tonight.

Last night we had 60 cars that stopped, and like RJ, the Candy Canes are costing us an absolute packet. Next year I might approach one of the shops about buying a carton of them at a little over their cost price and see what they say. Since the start of the month we have bought about 50 packets of them (10 in each), and we have about 3 left :(

I have yet to have the need for an announcement about turning around, but I do need a couple of Ledtrik's to get the attention of people & tell them to tune in :)

hilarious guys.... so far, my busiest times are
1) weekends
2) Sunday is best
3) 7-8pm is the craziest.

After about 8:30 it tapers off, just a couple more cars... from 9-9:30 sometimes there is nobody!

I've made it this far without a voice over, I'm going to try to avoid it, but if the need arises, i am ready......

"remember to dim your lights, don't block driveways or turn around in drive ways, please don't play your stereo too loud, and leave a 100 dollar bill on the doorstep."

Lol xmus. I might just have to use that myself. Here Friday & Saturday nights are busy, with Sunday being a bit less, but not much.

Because its summer here, the lights are best viewed after about 9pm, so we get a few cars from 8 till 9, but from 9 untill 11pm its really busy, then it tapers off until midnight. I still had 3 cars outside at midnight last night when the display shut down.

I expect more next weekend when the school holidays are in full swing.

UPDATE!

So I'm in the house, milling around, wife and I are thinking of heading to bed, kids are in bed, not asleep yet, i start hearing base thumping the Christmas music, I'm thinking "teenager", i peek out the front window, and there is a little car out there, older car, and I'm thinking "yup, teenager, older car, stereo is worth more than the car", i call my wife over (Because the bass was REALLY GOOD coming from the street), i have the stereo on really low, so my wife can match the bass with the music easily, we are both kinda laughing to our selves... and then.... .suddenly a HUGE BUS pulls around the culdesac (i missed him coming down, and turning around back there).

OH MY GOSH. A GIGANTIC TOUR BUS PARKED ACROSS THE STREET.
My kids come running, we are all looking out the front window now.
forget about blocking a driveway, try blocking two at once. That is where the bass is coming from. I throw on a jacket, head out, chat with the driver, it is a private party, like a "limo bus" I guess. I can smell the alcohol and cigarettes, and the music really is thumping in there.

So I'm standing there making small talk with the driver, apparently I'm on the official list now, for places to take private parties with limo's and the "bus limo" etc. She said "I dunno, the boss just put it on the list!".

The best part was, as my show was playing, all the girls (I'm thinking bachelorette party) were like "ahhhhhhh" "ooooooohhhhh" "ooooooooo".

So more small talk, cute girl jumps through the curtain again: "CAN YOU BACK UP MORE PLEASE!".

BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP (I'm horrified by all this, my poor neighbors)

Then after a few more songs... same beautiful girl jumps through the curtain:

"OKAY LETS GO!"

hilarious. I'm not making this up. Scouts honor!

Awesome! And congrats for getting on TV!

My funny story is not as good.

So last night the wife and I were watching CSI, and we start hearing Christmas music. And bass to go with it. And it's a quarter to ten. I peek out the window and see it's one of the neighbor guys (I can't really say kid, he's married with kids) who cruises up and down the street blaring his radio. Well him and his wife are leaning agains thair car, windows down, music blaring, smoking a cigarette.

So I paused the DVR, and went to the computer room. GHrab the microphone off the main computer and hook it up to the christmas box. I hit pause on vixens timer and speak.

"Dude, I really appraciate you comming out and watching the show. And I am extremely confident that you are going to tell all your friends and family to come by and watch." At this point in time, the guys totally bugging out. I've got the lights off in my PC room, and I'm staring out the window, he totally can't see me. "But i'm sitting inside watching TV, and I can hear the music your playing inside my house! It's a quarter 'till ten, can I ask you to turn it down to low roar please? thanks! Now back to our regularly shceduled program!" And I hit the resume button in vixen. And the dude just dove into his passanger window and turned down the music.

LOL, my wife and I laughed about that for the rest of the night.

Now I really DO need to look at Vixen 2 - I cant pause & don't have a mic, so that'll have to get fixed as well :)

I mentioned in chat, but not sure about in here - Last week, 1/2 tanked with my 4th beer of the night & I look out to see a set of headlights on the security monitor (My pc's second monitor). Grabbed the basket of candy canes, got outside & looked up at a massive coach parked outside, with quiet music coming from it. I gently put down the basket (I only had about 20 left) and walked up to the bus to find I had a bunch of young teenage kids turn up on their way up north on a school excursion. The driver heard about the lights on the way into town (this was 11pm) and asked the kids if they wanted to see it. After 8 or 9hrs on a bus and abother 6 or so to go, they gladly said yes lol

They stayed for about 20 mins before heading off. I had to show the Mrs the security camera footage the next morning as she did not believe me :)

I get cabs stopping outside (With passengers!) for the show now - I should ask for a kickback & run the show another few minutes to add to their fee

For voice overs, I wonder if i could just prerecord a bunch, and play them in itunes as needed.... and not even stop the show.....

"plese remember to not block driveways, thank you"
"please rememeber to dim your lights for others "
"please do not blow the windows out of my neighbors home with the bass from your car".

"please do not blow the windows out of my neighbors home with the bass from your car".

Some thing I done that has helped with the 'bass' issue..... I went into my sound card control, and tweaked the bass down. I know this affects everyone but that's how it goes.
