I made a cool wireless controller. I'm a newby so I made a simple 8 ch parallel port controller from 2 Parallax SSR boards that talked serial ( I had laying around). So I used a BasicStamp to read the parllel port and convert to serial and send to the SSR boards. Worked real good. This Vixen stuff is really neat. But I wanted lights on the porch and the computer is in the den. So I had a pair of 434MHz Tx/Rx modules, so I used another BasicStamp and a transmit module to read the parallel port and send it to the other BasicStamp with receive module that converts it to serial and sends 4 lower bits to one SSR boardand 4 upper bits to the other SSR board. Works real sweet! Even powered the remote unit with a NiCad battery.
