I just stumbled across this today:http://www.engadget.com/2011/07/18/makes-redpark-breakout-pack-lets-you-build-ios-apps-with-arduin/
It is a RS232 cable for any IOS device, it's even Apple approved!!! I don't have the programming knowledge, but this could be used for controlling much blinky flashy from any IOS device.

Just 'cause it is an "i" thing doesn't mean is should be used for everything. There I said it. *cleansing breath*
I sure as hell don't want to try and program 384 channels on an iPhone, let alone an iPad. Maybe a remote of some sort may be useful, but even then it is just as easy or easier to simply walk out to the front yard with my laptop with my REN-W plugged in and simply transmit my show to the controllers. I can just sit in my lawn chair and adjust the show on the fly.
Don't get me wrong. I am not anti-apple. I have an iPhone, iPad, and a Mac-Mini. I would love to run my show off my Mini. I don't see it happening any time soon. But I am even fine if it never
happens.
The right tool for the right job. And just remember, every tool is a hammer until used for its primary purpose.

Hi,
I have just released an iPhone application to control the Vixen Lights Software using its built-in web server api. Check it out here http://doityourselfchristmas.com/forums/showthread.php?18266-Vixen-iPhone-App&p=184957#post184957
