I have eight of these that I am going to use in this year's display. They will be mounted up high for safety, but I really want to protect them from rain getting down in them if possible. The ignitor and valve is right below the top, so really want to protect them from the elements a bit..

I had hoped to rig something along the lines of an exhaust flapper like on a tractor or semi truck, but the propane does not generate enough pressure or lift to raise a flapper of any weight at all. So, it will probably have to be something self powered that I can open up using an LOR channel or X10 when needed.
Maybe a solenoid? The neck at the top is 3 1/2 inches, so a hose clamp could mount whatever the device was. Just need to keep the cost and complexity down since I need to do this 8 times.
