Whatever is cheaper at the time you buy it.

any cable is suitable that is insulated and can handle 5 Volts and 10 mA.

CAT 5 (4 pair Twisted Pair) is often used by forum members due to the ease of termination of the cable on to the controllers and the SSRs.

Market economics suggest that Volume production is getting cheaper every month.

If you can get CAT 6, cheap, buy it.

none of our systems are driving the cable at or near it's rated specs.

John.

Pretty much anything with 5 or more wires that can crimp on an RJ45 will work. Many people use CAT5. I use 6 conductor phone wire. Buy whatever's cheaper.
