Great Site.. learning a lot but have a question that I hope someone can help me with. I had another question too but forgot, its late!!
1. Looking at all the different systems trying to see which is best for me. I want a dimmable system and will be using LED lights. Looking at the Renard 24 or the Firegod 128 channel system. Did not find much info on the Firegard system and LED's. Which do you suggest? Either or None?
Thanks in advance.

Tough call. I use the Renard. 5 Renard 64s to be exact. I have never used the FireGod system so I can not comment on it. The Renard is the more popular of the two and thus will probably have more support from the various users.

Thanks..
How well does the Renard 64 work with LED Lights and dimming?
Also, can it be built or do you have to purchase? If so, where?
Also, is there a specific SSR you need, I thought through reading it required a special one.
I am kinda getting confused on the whole process.
Thanks

You can PM Wjohn he has the boards for the Renards and SSR's in stock.
But you will need to source the parts yourself.
I have two Renard16's just built them but are yet to see how they will work with my LED lights. Aparently they do work fine with them.
The Triac used is nothing special but the boards can be purchaced from Wjohn.
And Welcome to the Wonderfull world of Blinkin Lights

The Ren-64 works as well as any other system out there for dimming LEDs, as far as I know, including LOR

You can purchase the pcb but need to solder on the parts. You would need to purchase the parts seperately.

The standard ssrs we use will work properly.

Thanks for the quick replies, I am super excited for next year.
One last thing, everyone seems for use a different Renard Board, ie 16/24/64.. they appear to have some differnce, ie SSR on board for the 24, but is there any real differences. All that I can tell is the number of channels each has, and if you run them all in a chain does it really matter?

I guess it really depends on your need. I use both 5 Ren-64s and 2 Ren-24s. I use the Ren-24s with onboard relays for my mega tree, 50 channels in one location. I use the Ren-64s for everything else because it is so dispursed around the yard. Its cheaper to run lot 1 cat 5 and 1 extension cord vs 4 long extension cords.
