Slowly but surely I'm getting to 64 channels. Currently testing (going live tomorrow or Thursday). Have ~9000 minis going to WnW and Hallelujeh (however it's spelled). Will work on two more this week). No where near where I wanted to be, but, its a start.
Considering a more permanent enclosure, I got two of these:

AFL Keptel CG-1500 Coax Demarcation Enclosures 12.25 X 12 X 5.25 (http://www.yourbroadbandstore.com/product.php?pid=706098)
What is a reasonable length for the cable from the PC to the first 595 controller? I'm looking at around 20-30 feet.
Thanks,
Brian

From my computer to my 1st 595 is about 15ft and the from the 1st 595 to the second is about 80ft. I have had no issues.

I was worried about how much space would be in them with the 595 board and up to 18 cat5 cables. I wouldn't call it tight, but, cramped may be appropriate!!! All in all, I'm satisfied with the enclosures. They weathered a night of Florida thunderstorms with no ill effects, and no water inside the unit. I don't think there's enough room inside to add the Ren-C unless I mount the on the inside of the door.

Now have the live version of 'Please Come Home for Christmas' by Bon Jovi and Mannheim's 'Deck the Halls' . Trying to get 'Lucy and Linus done and that'll do it for this year.

From my computer to the first 595 has got to be at least 100 feet.
I am using the ethernet that was installed in the house that goes to my onQ box. Then using a extention coupler I hacked into the qwest phone line to the outside of the house where it comes in. I am not using Qwest for my phone, but I do thank them for installing this line for me to use.
It one point I was getting my 5volts from the computer in the house, but when I put my second 595 on another 50 feet of cable I did not have enough juice to run both and all the SSR's. So I put a PC power supply on the first 595 to power them all.
I have had no problems with this setup. I do have to run a background script, cause they WILL turn on by themselves if left alone while powered up.
