That's funny. We have been doing that for more then 15 years, or maybe longer, in car audio. Hook up some lights to a spare amplifier, and you get a really nice ligting effect fro your amp racks. But I never even thought of doing it in the house.

a friend of mine used to bridge a bulb onto the back of his speakers so they would "glow" , it looked cool until his amp fried up and I laughed at him.
