Just finished building one of these. I am planning on using it for my mighty mini flood at 24vt.

Everything seemed to work then while I was probing the output (bare wires) of a cat 5 cable that was attached to the ren48 before hooking it up to the a mightly mini I slipped. A spark came from the board around the 1st pic area.

Now what happens is all channels still seem to work fine except for the 1st 4.

All rj45 hooked up to my might mini produce r,b,g,w on the right channels. except #1

With the 1st rj45 the red (channel 1) stays on. When I test Channel 1 the red goes a little dimmer and will increase intensity as I decrease intensity in vixn. While the b,g,w on channel 2,3,4 seem to work fine when turning on Channel 2,3 or 4 the red (ch 1) dims some but still stays on.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks
Brad

I'm guessing you smoked the transistor for that channel - that's the price for using cheap transistors - it doesn't take a lot to knock them out. The nice thing about them though - besides being cheap - is that they are easy to find as well - even RadioShack still carries them (well... maybe... depends on your store...). If you bought through the group buy, you should have two extras in the kit. If this is a v3c board, the nomenclature of the transistors/resistors follow the actual channel number so you would be looking at Q01 to replace.

It's Brian's board, so he should know ! ;)

I too smoked a transistor on this board type and it reacted the exact same way you are describing. Replace it and I'll bet everything is good.

Thank you for the quick response. Was able to make a trip to radio shack and everything works great now.
