Wondering if any CA locals are planning (or were aware of) to go to the Maker Faire coming to San Mateo in May? See: http://makerfaire.com/bayarea/2011/
I might take all my kids (not really kids any more...) to it - looks to be some pretty cool things going on...

Nice find! I had given up on something like that coming anywhere near Kansas.

I forgot about the maker fair. I remember looking it up a few years ago. I wanted to go, wife wasn't too up to the idea though. I think I was interested in the rc boat battles, after watching the video on the link you put up.

I will absolutely be there. It is a blast. And the coolest most creative people on the planet are all in one spot.
There are plenty of things for little kids and big kids to look at, interact with, and experience. Highly recommended.

Made it in 2008 and 2009, drove to San Mateo around noon on the Sunday last year and the line of cars was all the way out to Hwy. 92. Because I knew I had only limited time, I skipped it entirely.
In 2009 there were guys with a Christmas lights display -- all home-brewed (both HW and SW). They were from Sacramento (I used to have their URL around here somewhere).
I'm pretty sure I'll be in a booth -- my train buddies and I will be running some live steam ... last I heard, the point guy was negotiating for a good spot to set up.
When I know more, I'll post here.
