Ok, you guys wanted it, here it is. The sorting process is at the very least half done. I haven't had the free time I would want, though, I figured I wouldn't. It was difficult to plan for as I believe we ALL (myself included) expected or at the very least, strongly desired to have all the parts delivered before they did, by about a month.

As I said in another post, if 9500 Triac's were going to one individual, then perhaps things wouldn't be taking as long, though, because they are not, they have to be counted out (manually, no assembly line equipment here folks) and of course sorted into every participants "bag" or in the case of some, "bags". I wish I could somehow share how much a daunting task this is, in fact, borderline overwhelming, though, I'm still happy to do it and do it as fast as my fingers, free time and son/wife will allow (I made the mistake of suggesting to my wife we celebrate our 10th anniversary this weekend instead of the 14th, the actual day and that landed me in the dog house for a day, lesson learned there). 59,000 parts total.

I appreciate everyones patience and to try to share with all that may not be able to begin to comprehend the work involved, here is what 9500 Triac's look like:

Of course, 9,500 MOC3023's isn't much to bulk at either:

http://www.overcomeanaffair.com/coop/mocs1.jpg

Of and 5,000 of these fun little guys:

http://www.overcomeanaffair.com/coop/molex1.jpg

Those are only 24,000 of the 59,000 total parts (and only 3 items, technically 4, but my fingers cant tell the difference between the three pole molex connectors and four pole).

:)

If my updates are slow, its due to the fact that in all honesty, while harsh to some, I would much rather spend free time on completing the job rather than reporting on it, though I know you guys like updates. These pictures were taken in the den, I'm sorting in the server/computer room, a mess I'd really rather not share pictures of at this time <grin> besides, I believe my wife would kill me making people think she doesn't keep a neat house. The house IS neat, superb even, just.. not.. "my" room. ;p

Older pictures:

As always, any questions and/or concerns, send me a PM please, this includes requests for updates, as making a post is like "calling me out" so-to-speak. Thank you for everyones understanding and patience. I truly am trying to kick this out guys.

Jason,

Thanks for the upgrade. Take your time, enjoy your anniversary and try not to sneeze while you are balancing 100,000 resistors on your head.

Bill

Oh, not that many, I still have quite a few pictures on the camera I am just now offloading onto the hard drive. I forgot to include the resistors, nothing impressive all rolled up, but, unroll these bad boys and break out the Aleve baby! <grin> I think the below pictures show just 15,000 resistors if my math is right. Unfortunately, all the parts aren't all packaged pretty anymore, not in big boxes anyway.

Then the 5,500 RJ45 Amp connectors:

Thanks for all you're doing.
That is a BIG job.
Not only verifying that all parts are there,
then break it down to smaller orders.
So,
what were you planning on doing this summer?

Hello all,
I am new to computer controlled Christmas lighting. I am trying to learn how to build the items I need but am not sure where to start. Could any of the pros send me a message and tell me what I need and where to start. I would like to try this Christmas.

Thanks for the help

i would start looking through the WIki and maybe tring to get in on a coop for a grinch board or 595. They are easy to start out and work. Thats how i got started recently

A new recruit should start with either a 595 or a Grinch controller and 16 SSRs (relays). Each SSR will control 4 channels so you will have potentially 64 channels to control. Make a few SSRs to play with. Start small, get the feel of the vixen software. Don't feel like you have to keep up with all the advances that are quickly happening in the forums. The controllers mentioned above are on/off but you will be able to dim the channels later with the Ren-C that is in the planning stages now.

Has anybody received any emails for the additional cost for shipping?

No, no one should have. A PM here (assuming the participant IS here which by now I hope so and kept their username the same as on Vixen) will be sent accompanying the email, so that you can be darn sure it's me sending the email will happen.

A somewhat painful set back kept me out for a few days, an abscessed tooth and a root canal later I'm back on my feet. However, I'm playing single parent at the moment, due to my wife taking a somewhat surprise out to sea and visit to East Point, Maine (USS McFaul should anyone wish to validate this) for a 4th of July parade they'll be participating in, has me on my toes with our 3 year old.

I am however, trying to utilize every moment I have to wrap this up and believe me when I say this (at this point), I want to wrap this up more than anyone else. Hence the reason I am up at 1:50am (preparing for bed right now, though, I was tackling the completion of the packaging before now) and having to wake for work at 6am. <grin>

Just a little more patience with me gang, it truely is appreciated. I -was- anticipating having two helpers with this project, though, they were under no obligation and I have not pested them concerning it since I alone took on this project to begin with. So.

Xray of newly root canaled tooth is available for scanning should anyone wish to validate that as well. ;) An extraction is the way I'll go next time, I had no idea they were $1400 until I received the bill (erm, 50% of it anyway since United Concordia graciously picked up half the tab).

Fun stuff. Stand by is about all I can say at this point, it's close, very close. I'd love to make just one trip to USPS, however, should anyone be a bit more anxious than the next, please PM me and I'll make it my best effort to get you your gear if I can. Thank you once again for your patience guys.

Jayson,

It is nice to hear from you!!! Sorry about the tooth, I had one of those when I was a child and still have vivid memories. No fun there.

I don't think anybody is doubting you working on the coop, and we all certainly appreciate you undertaking this monstrous task. It is just nice to have an update even if it is a one liner saying 'getting there'

Once again thanks for your effort and update.

Tony,

"It is just nice to have an update even if it is a one liner saying 'getting there' "

I know to some this is likely comforting, I suppose though from my perspective, I'm frustrated at having to give such a "weak" update (for the lack of a better word).

I'd love nothing more than to give the update of, "Started emailing folks" or something similiar. Though, this isn't the reason I didn't visit and give an update.. it was more of a really didn't think about the website much type of deal.

That said. Indeed, it's getting there, I'm chugging along - making progress. ;)

Jayson,

My hat is off to you man. I cant even imagine.....
I've been busy, just finally learned about this site last week, and just saw these pics today.

I wish i didn't live 2500 miles away, i would help, or at least buy you beer :)
Anyone live near enough to Jayson to lend a hand?

hello Jayson and xmus,
Just confirming that my order is still sitting there somewhere...lol, I ordered 2 renards with the PCB's from xmus, Am I correct in assuming that the parts will still be sent to xmus then out to me?

Thanks for all the hard work, I cannot even begin to imagine the task that has been undertaken!

Dean,

Your order is definitely still here bro. Despite my wife going out to sea for 2 weeks, I'm only about 1 week behind of where I wanted to be, Im guessing.

There was a part missing from the shipment, because, I didn't order them. However, I found a place that sold them in quantities of 50, seeing that we only needed 155 of them (a diode, forget which off the top of my head) that went with the Renards. Glad I caught it, but, thats why I double checked everyones "order" (that are boxed up, still have 15 more people to go). I'm probably not doing it all the most efficient way, but, only if I had an assembly line could I do parts in passes like. Long to explain I think.

I hate putting a date on things, but.. either way I'm going to start running out of room, now that everything isn't all factory packed and in individual boxes, its taking up alot of room and getting in the way. So I may have to deviate from my wishes to ship everyones out at once... sorry guys, I wanted to be fair about it, but, I need more working space I believe.

I'm going to go in the order of who placed their "order" first. First come first serve type of deal, its the next best fairest method I can come up with.

So, Monday, here we come.

If I may make a suggestion, instead of shipping those in order of "order placed" ship out as you complete them. That way you will have your house at least partly clear and you wont have to rent a Uhaul to get them all to the post office. And as far as I have seen the post office does not give quantity discounts on shipping without charitable organization status.

Hi,

I'm fine yes, and still alive, etc.

I have begun shipping yes, hang tight gang, this is all coming to a close.. thank God.

Many lessons learned later and should there be a next time, I've been assured the discount will be deeper yet because of this order. Anyway, going to complete this one and take a rest before worrying about another one, needless to say.

Hey if there are any extra parts for sale, please let me know. I have 32 SSR boards (ver2.4) and if these parts are the ones I need let me know how many and how much.

Thanks,

PS - There are NO extra parts. All parts quantities ordered for this co-op were ordered in precise amounts/numbers to satisfy the number of "kits" requested/ordered.

Sorry.

Tony Lukes, much better steaks!

But if you are going to Passyunk Ave, Genos is the better choice!

Genos is tradition but I do like Luke's too.. I either get a Papa Luke or a double Luke Jr. (assuming they still have these)

As for where I'm going.. visiting home bro, I'm from Philly/Harrisburg (one parent "from" one, the other "from" the other - long been divorced).

Get over the bridge to Medford Lakes and go to DeVello's for the best steaks I've ever eaten!. Take Rt. 70 to 541. Turn left (North) and go one block (on the right) Eat one steak there, and you'll be ashamed to say you ever got one at Gino's or Pat's. Cheese whiz is crap to begin with...

Even Paul Neuman gets his steaks there. They've even named one after him.

4 fused and 9 renards according to my list and the list post probably is here, but, the domain it was residing on is no more. I'll be getting that setup again on another domain sometime this weekend. Tomorrow is going to be a massive shipping day, should be an interesting day (and I use that word without much exaggeration) at USPS.

Soooo, heads up, if you're a "lucky" participant that gets a PayPal "Request Money" please pay it as soon as you can, else there is always Saturday.

Getting to bed now, but, I believe tomorrow will be a nice day for many.

The 8 Renards you ordered before the ST part change, I have you for 8 Renards and 1 "new" Renard. No sure if that helps any.

Had no electric last night due to storm for roughly 5 hours (lost 4 lb's of 93% lean beef kinda upset about that) so wasnt able to do the remaining "request money"'s and/or emails for those paying by Money Order.

Doing it now, took the day off work (I'm more less the boss so no big deal - salary is great like that). So please stand by, I'm knocking the rest of these "Request Money"'s out. If you previously paid by Money Order and wish to pay for the shipping via PayPal (so long as it is confirmed/verified as I will only ship to the confirmed address!!) then just send me a PM containing your PayPal email address. Please DO NOT send me a PM if you already paid for the parts themselves via PayPal, as its unnecessary (unless your PayPal email address changed since the time you paid for the parts) and will just fill my inbox. ;)

Again, stand by, I want this stuff out of here today (with exception of some international folks and folks paying by Money Order of course)!

JaysonH
08-20-2007, 09:09 AM
Ok. All United States participants "Money Request"'s or Email giving totals (for the Money Order participants) have been sent at this time. If you did not receive it (begin edit) AND are not having your parts kits sent from Xmus (end edit), I probably didn't receive this copy/paste that was requested some time ago:

============================================

Forum Name:
Real Name:

PayPal Email Address (if you paid by PayPal):
Email Address for Email:

Shipping Address (must match that of PayPal confirmed address if
applicable):

Shipping Preference (if different from USPS Priority):

via email.

And if you did, then I goofed apparently, so send me a PM and we'll fix the situation so you can get your parts! :)

*Edited: Thank you daredwood for pointing that out to me, sorry guys.

Well, this is embarassing. I messed up someones order. Nothing drastic at all (well, depending upon how the person takes it).

538-16-02-0102

Some parts had to be ordered in the "next minimum size" higher than what was needed, dont worry, I covered the costs of such parts so no worries there (figured I would run another in January so the extra and spending the extra didnt bother me at all). According to the quantity ordered (600), only 280 were needed. I have 324 left, I counted twice. I should have only 320 left over.

They're the molex terminal crimp style contacts, used in the Olsen kits. You'll be short 4 of them (4 are in each kit). Simply PM me and I'll get it resolved ASAP, they're here waiting for you. (Neat, I technically wont be done with this until the person PM's me and they receive them from me in an envelope).

Sorry whoever, terribly sorry about that.

As well as the participants of the Renard16 will be glad to hear this I'm sure. Your kits will be heading his way wednesday (hopefully depends on the participants). I just wrapped up the re-check of the last Renard16 kit. PayPal MR's will be heading your way, so pay them please ASAP since all kits are in the same box -- you will not be paying me shipping, but rather any remaining balance due to price differences, etc. if applicable for you.

That said.. ho ho ho.. International shipping pricing coming up. Thank you all for the patience.

Edit: err
