I have created this very simple DMX sender for Linux I have uploaded the schematics and source code to source forge. Have a look here http://sourceforge.net/projects/simpledmxlinux/

I am currently working on a 3-universe send and receiver for Linux but it is in the early stages. Anyway just though I'd share what I have done so far.

You mention in your blog that you made your own hardware, do you have a schematic for that?

The Schematic is in subversion or the file package look in the HW directory. It is is Eagle CAD format but I will also upload PDF's.
