View Full Version : Anyone familiar / experience with this Soldering Station?

Saw this and thought it looked like a good deal, but I'm a newb. I have read almost all the posts about soldering irons ... CSI Station 2a and Weller WES51 seem to be the favorites. Was going to go with the Weller, but saw this and it interested me. Thanks for your advice.

This station is primarily for SMD components. Unless you're going to be doing SMD, I would think the CSI and WESS1 would be the better tools to "do what we do". The projects/boards here on DIYC are all through hole types.

Through hole soldering generally requires more heat and a larger tip than SMD and the tip on the iron appears to be small.

That is just a quess. I have never done SMD (yet), but my wife has. She is not commenting at this time, but that's because she's not here.
