Ok well seems that I cannot get my hands on the most important parts of the controllers sigh! This is for the GRINCH.
Need 4 Allegro A6279EA-T chips (my freebe's never came)
And the 4 IC's for the SSR boards x5 so 20 of them.. I can get those but I don't want to pay nearly $4 each for them which I think is mega expensive. So if any one could PLEASE hook me up with these chips that would be fantastic!!!!!
Last thing I want to do is air mail from america but if I have to so be it. But seems I can't even find a place that will ship just 4 for the grinch so I can't even do that...

Yeah I need some help locating some chips also. No reply on my free samples and anyplace I look for the Allegros they are backordered.

I need the 4 ICs for the main Grinch board - The Allergo and mbi5027-gn are nowhere to be found ... Anyone know where I can get 4 of either? I would prefer the Allegro, but at this point Im not going to be that picky.
Thanks

I just order 8 ST Micro STP16DP05 from Digi Key. The STP16DP05 is supposed to be the same as the Allegro. I'll let you know how they work when I receive them.

Is there any chance you could use your new found contacts at mouser to convince then to stock a few hundred of the Allegro chips.
There seems to be a demand and no one is stocking them at any price.
Or maybe they could give you a cross reference part that they have that no one has found yet.

I got my STP16DP05 from Digi Key today. Man those guys are fast. So far I only got the first 16 channels put together on the Grinch. But I did a test on those channels and everything seem to work great. BLINK, BLINK!! I would say the STP16DP05 is going to be a good substitute. Hopefully I'll have time to finish it in the next couple of days. I'll keep you posted

All my parts will be here Monday, so can anyone confirm that the STP16DP05 will work on the Grinch? Sounds like from the post it that it will ....
Thanks

Just a little update on the STP16DP05 chip. Everything seem to be working then things started getting weird from channel 32 and up. Put the Allegro's back in and everything was fine. Maybe not the perfect substitute if your using more than 32 channels

Another possible subsitute is the Maxim MAX6969ANG - but its a tough find also.

Sorry. I guess better late than never. When I say "weird" I mean lights were turning on when they weren't triggered they would randomly flash some wouldn't turn on at all just "weird". It only did it on the higher channels and the chips seem to run a bit warmer than the Allegro's. Once again sorry it took so long to reply.

OK, in the despirate search for chips for the grinch, I discovered that vendors are moving away from DIP chips because it is cheeper and smaller to solder the chips directly to the board. They obviously have never fried a Grinch before!
Anyway, they still have and plan to have lots of 28-MLP
type chips that have the same spec as the Alegro chip, but it installs like a processor chip does with little pins on the bottom. I am wondering how difficult it would be to redesigh the grinch to take this type of chip, since the DIPs are becoming obsolete.
Any thoughts?
