Guys, Sorry for sounding like a dope but it comes naturally. I want to start etching SSRs from Seans design but I am a litle confused on the parts list and ssr board version. Is the standard Bowf 4 channell different from the ssroz board. I see the parts are different so I assume it is. Is there a PDF somewhere of the SSROZ board? Or should I just stick to the original sean SSR and parts list. My apologies if this is somewhere on the board but my internet time is limited and I am trying to make the boards and order the parts while I am home and then assemble everything while I am away.

The ssroz is different form the standard ssrs. Where do you live? That will determine which ssr board you need.

The SSROZ and the Sean Bowf design are pretty much the same other than parts placement. You could use either one. The SSROZ was originally designed for the AUS market(2.5c). More info on SSROZ http://christmasinshirley.com/wiki/index.php?title=4_Channel_SSROZ_Assembly_Instructi ons
Either the Bowf v2,4 or the SSROZ 2.5d would do fine.
I would believe that the Bowf model is more popular because it has all of the coops, but the SSROZ is available by sending a PM to wjohn.
My two cents(maybe three)

I seem to remember a simple circuit diagram to build a SSR using an optocoupler, resistor and TRIAC, that could be used on the parallel port of a computer. With all of the information out there, I am at a loss as to where I saw it. If someone could point me in the right direction, I would like to try building 8 of these circuits for the 8 channel parallel port in Vixen. Granted I am getting started very late, but I would like to attempt to get a simple display going this year. I wish I had found this site earlier on this year. I hopfully will expand next year using some of the other configurations of systems that are shown in this forum.
Thanks to whoever can help.

This is probably the fastest way you can get 8 channels going this year .

Chuck,
Thanks for your quick response. I have seen this unit in other posts. I was trying to get by this year for the least cost so that I can spend more $$$ on obtaining materials for next year. This board runs about $40 plus you need a 12v power supply. I am currently working with another person who may know more about the circuit that I am looking for.
Thanks again for your response.

The power supply you speak of is in the computer case so you would not have to buy a separate 12v PS. So all you would be out of pocket was $40 for the unit this year. and no soldering. just an old parrallel printer cable and bam,.... blinky lights.
