Anybody in the Chicago NW Suburbs? Schaumburg or westward? I'm new to this site (previously stuck in LOR land) and would love to talk shop!

I'm just north of you in Hawthorn Woods. There are at least two others as well. We've gotten together last summer and kicked around ideas. We should probably plan to do it again. Mike you posted at 1:34am, are you serious, go to bed.

How do you expect them to sleep with all those d@*n planes circling over O'Hare waiting for a runway to stay open long enough to land on...

Sorry to ressurect an old thread, but I'm in Lemont (SW burbs) and I'm looking for houses to see around the area. I'm looking for ideas on how to design my display. Anyone in the SW or W burbs? I suppose I can make an evening out of it and head a bit farther north if there's enough to see. The wife loves to drive by christmas houses as well, so it's a perfect excuse for an evening out.
This is my first year in a new house and haven't started automating and animating yet except for X-10 modules for on at sunset and off at 11:30pm. I'm starting my collection from the ground up, with all green (as in energy efficient, not color) lights. I just have a static display this year, all dimmable C9 LED. I've got 300' up on the rooflines and a few small elements in the yard. Most notable is a large homemade advent wreath. It's so non-automated that i have to go outside and screw in another bulb each week. I've never seen anyone else with anything like that. I plan on doing LED pixels next year and beginning into the world of sequencing.

Welcome! There are a lot of great people on here, and a tremendous wealth of information. I am in the West burbs, by Huntley (the outlet mall is nearby). I have been doing LOR for 5 years, and ventured into RGB pixels (some 1800 of them) this year with a lot of help from those here. If you want to venture out this way, I'd love to talk shop. My website with details is at http://www.twinkleclaus.com and have some videos from this year at https://www.facebook.com/pages/Twinkleclaus/270420659667724
Feel free to PM me, and don't be afraid to ask questions here!

Thanks for the welcome. Twinkleclaus, I just checked out your facebook videos. Very cool. I love the talking window characters, that's my kind of sense of humor! I think we'll be making the trip out your way. Maybe as soon as tonight! Looks like it'll be worth it.

Mike,
I didn't see an address here or on your facebook page. Where would I go to see this AWESOME setup? What's your show schedule?

We're in central Illinois, but a trip up to see what others are doing would be great. This is our first year into anything electronic, but would LOVE to get into the RGB pixels (but a little hesitant). Twinkleclaus, maybe you can push us over that edge! :-)
