View Full Version : SO. MUCH. SNOW. / The Display

Well, up here in Wisconsin, winter storm Ava is coming through. It's been snowing since about noon today, and it started coming down heavily at about 3. It's now quarter to 9, and I'd say we have about 8 inches of snow on the ground, and it's still coming down. Hard. The expected total has been upped from 5-8" to 8-11". I've taken the snowblower out twice today. It's effectively buried my static display by about half. I also managed to run the snowblower over a 100ft extention going across a crack in the driveway to the other side. It tripped the breaker, and now until I can get another cord, I'm out a blue flood and 4 100ct mini strings. On the upside, we just got 2 new snowmobiles over the summer, for a total of 4, and I think I'm going to go out riding with the family tomorrow.

How about you guys? Any snow?

EDIT: I'll go out and grab a pic...
All righty, here. Sorry about the quality/fuzziness. I didn't want to bring my SLR out into the bad weather.

The dead lights:

Walkway to front door. Lights are on; flash was too bright. You can definitely see the snow though!

Walkway w/o flash. Gotta love the blue floods in the coined corners!

...and two of the whole house. I want to string large lights on those trees next year, instead of the floods. I also want to add a large lit wreath above the garage door, and add white icicles along the roof. If all goes to plan I'll also automate the whole shebang!

In Madison WI we got Snow 3-6", then sleet, then freezing rain, then rain, then snow, then rain and a little wind. I thought with all of the ice buildup a mini-mega tree would come down, but they held. We turned on the light to try and melt some of the ice off the strands and I think it worked. It also made a cool effect of the presents we had on the ground that were 1/2 burried. They melted a ring around them and it left a neat effect. Now the lights reflecting off the ice looks fantastic.
