I was thinking it would be a good idea to have a 120v power indicator on my 16 chanel Renards.

A cheap neon indicator and resistor would add about 30 cents to each set of 16 channels.

If it reminds me to be extra care full because the board is still hot or keeps me from getting kicked on my christmas tree because I unplugged the wrong plug I would consider it a cheap investment.

For average usage 25000 hours should last at least 10 years.

I would attach this to even bypass the fuse so if any 120v was present the indicator would light.

That is a good idea, I second the motion. Two resistors and two neon indicators per board.

BUMP

All the talk of traic heat sinks possibly not being isolated makes me bump this topic.

I am retrofitting all my boards to include an indicator.

My opinion which is probably worth .005, cent is that an indicator should be mandatory for any board that has RJ45 jacks AND high voltage present on the same board.

A good drawing on how to retrofit this onto existing boards would be helpful for those that would like (should) do this mod.
