Subject says it all, the PC doesn't boot to XP properly while the 595 board is connected? I have to disconnect the "in" on 595 board, let XP boot up, then connect the parallel port... is this normal?

Last year I had the same problem when I added a second parallel port card. Other than the boot problem the PC operated normally.

I just hope the pc doesn't crash or anything while I'm not home or not paying attention :( I'm confused why the PC doesn't boot up while the 595 board is connected --- Oh well.

Possibly the software that auto-detect devices on the parallel port is screwing up.

Do you have power to the 595 when you are booting?

Or does it cause the same problem with and without power to the 595?

Power to the 595 is on.. The whole reason I'm worried about it at all is if the PC locks up, reboots or anything, I wanted to make sure the "show will go on" unattended....

No big deal.

Check to see if any of your pins on the IN RJ45 connector have voltage on them. WIN XP is probably sensing a voltage on one of the pins and wants to identify it as a new device.
