Where is a good place to pick up a donation box... figure what I can put up without worrying about growing legs and walking off... Thanks

pails, buckets, or lidded boxes with a slot cut in the top.
They also make cash boxes with donation slots. I believe Walmart is a good place to start shopping.
But as for security, unless you are monitoring it, theives will find a way to get it.
Otherwise, you will probably have to depend on the honesty of others.

The box I like is a USPS corner mailbox. The kind that is about 4 feet tall and painted blue. That seems to be the most secure. The problem is finding an old one or a manufacturer of a new one. I have searched and only found one seller and it was 600.00 for the box.
If anyone knows how to get your hands on a surplus mailbox let us know.
Short of that a homemade wood or metal box might be a good project for the off season.

kind of a more extreme idea, just thought i'd throw it out there though. could run a length of pvc from inside some where connected to a shop vac (the ones with the larger hose) and run a push button out to the other end connected to a timer relay, kind of a crude idea of the "bank tubes". so the person would drop in the tube and press the button that way it could all be safely inside.

I have some extra pvc could almost run a length of it to the front lawn to the house... thanks for the idea... I guess I could run a relay where they could puch a button to activate the vacuum...
