Is there a list somewhere of popular FM transmitters? I know alot use the Vas FM-02(I think), looking at options and cost related to each. Went through last year using a speaker on the front porch but would be less of a headache to get a transmitter. Looking to get something with an ease of installation for this year. House sits maybe 30yrds from street if that helps.

Hi:
There are a number of transmitters, but the FM02 seems to be the one most in use. It is easy to set up and the antenna can be very simple.

See my post "FM02 Transmitter Setup" on this forum for more info. Be sure to read all the posts in the thread, as they offer some good advice.

If you have any more questions, just holler.

If you are only 30ft, a simpled Mod on Belkin Tunecast II device may work perfectly. Some of the Belkin clones are available for around $10on eBay.

They have their problems, but if you to go the broadcast route for the least amount of money.

I bought mine on @bay, it's a little overkill, but it came with its own antenna. I think it was about 80.00 and came from china. It was digital PLL syth transmitter.

I use the mobile black box. Priced around the same as most other transmitters used here, plug and play setup, and great range.

This was one area I didn't want to have issues with so I bought the MobileBlackBox Eclipse-4000 ($129) with their antenna ($10). I bought this one over the V6000 ($99) because I didn't believe the range claims on the website and wanted to be sure it sounded clear about 100 feet up the road (you can see the house for a while). Turns out from inside the house 1600 feet is no problem even with the antenna retracted, which now makes me a little nervous. The V6000s 450 feet promise would have been fine.

If you are worried about the Men in Black you can attenuate the output
check this thread. I also included a calculator for attenuation or PM IdunBenhad he is the expert on RF stuff.
