Does anyone have an AVR Atmel programmer similar to this one:

http://www.atmel.com/dyn/products/tools_card.asp?tool_id=2726

I need to reflash my chips and only this type of programmer will work...Or I'll have to send my boards back for programming.

Chad,
sorry I am not near AZ, but any In-System Programmer will work.

Some times there are issues with the fuses that may require a SKT500 using High Voltage parallel programming.

I have the USBtinyISP AVR programmer from LadyAda (adafruit.com) and it worked well on the ATTiny2313 that RPM uses on his DMX boards.

It's on $22 plus shipping.

Unless you've got a very special chip, you should be fine with one of these or most other AVR programmers.

Unfortunately, I'm all the way on the other side of the country from AZ....

Well "that type" of programmer happens to be an ISP programmer, which is the most common and cheapest of the AVR programming methods. (HV programming, needed to fix certain fuse settings, and debugWire are the other options for small chips, but it doesn't seem like you need HVSP.)

There are quite a few very inexpensive options to ISP programming, such as Adafruit's USBTinyISP - it may be worth the $22 investment rather than borrowing a programmer only to need it again. (Especially given gas costs these days! You'll probably spend just as much money on gas driving to another part of AZ.)

Chad,
What chip are you trying to reprogram?
What are the symptoms?

Depending on the AVR, if this is a once off, I would suggest the old Parallel Port Programmer with the following:
only use a desktop / workstation Parallel port ( laptops don't work as well)

Or if you have a PICKIT check out http://doityourselfchristmas.com/forums/showthread.php?t=12371

Thank you everyone for the ideas. I will probably pick up a PICkit programmer for my future needs, but in the meantime I just sent the controller boards back to have them redone.

I was trying to trouble-shoot a set of 3 Rainbow Brains from www.christmasonmanor.com - From Greg Renna. I accidentally plugged in my DMX dongle into my Renard SS24 then into these Rainbow Brains - OOPS!

Anyway I glitched the first controller's chip, which caused errors down the line. I sent these boards back to Greg and he immediately reflashed them and sent them back - ALL GOOD NOW :-D:-D

Thanks again for the info!!
