i have just a few questions in reguards to the renard 64.

1. should i use zero cross alternative 1 if i plan to use the renard t with the 64

2. in the upper right hand corner that is what looks like a spot for a diag led and resistor. What should the value of the resistor be and what value does it provide.

I did it that way, if you put the LED's on the board, this is the preferred method according to the Wiki due to power requirements.

unnecessary parts, somewhere, not sure where, it states this is not used.

All info for assembly is in the wiki http://doityourselfchristmas.com/wiki/index.php?title=Renard_Main_Page

Leave that resistor and LED off. There isn't any firmware that accesses those parts. If you put them on, it will screw up the clock signal on the board.

Are you using the Tamura transformer? It was removed from the BOM and assembly instructions, as it does not provide a reliable zero cross signal. Are you using the Ren-T to power the board too? PWM firmware, or non-PWM?

yes i am using the tamura to power the board and i have the pwm firmware

i am using one of the home etched board that came out just before the coop

The Tamura unit is not advisable to use, may add to any troubles. If there is a radio shack around you can use #273-1365 transformer.

You will have to have a seperate power supply for the Renard64 since you are using the PWM firmware, and the Ren-T will be used for ZC signal and communication.

what would you recommend for a power source

You can just pick it up from the pc supply, or a hobby power supply.

5v how many amps do i need?

1A is the minimum per board with PWM firmware.

i hooked up the power supply i had for my grinch it puts out 5vdc @ 2amps. I connected it to j17 but i dont get the power led lighting

DC in is not J17.

If you wish to supply +5V from an external power supply (such as a spare PC power supply), omit U1, U2 and D1, and install a connector in place of U1 to supply power.

Pin 2 of U1 is gnd, pin 3 is +5

Did you build it to Case 1 for ZC?

Can you post of pic of your board to see what components you have installed?
