Hey everyone,
I just purchased a lynkexpress controller and am currently using lor to contol the show how do i get lor to recognize the controller

For LOR to control a Lynx (DMX) controller you would need the LOR iDMX adaptor since the LOR SW only speaks LOR protocol, the iDMX converts LOR to DMX.

An alternative would be to dump LOR SW and go with Vixen or LSP and get a DMX dongle. LOR sequences can be converted to Vixen format or imported to LSP so you could still sequence with LOR if you wanted to...

I'll say 'probably' - - most of the LOR hardware, if upgraded to later versions accept DMX directly with no LOR RS-485 dongle. I have two LOR1602W's that run off a DIY DMX dongle (I use RPM's dongle off this site). Just to clarify, you cannot use the LOR RS-485 dongle to run DMX though (AFAIK anyway).

You use THIS (http://doityourselfchristmas.com/forums/showpost.php?p=45072&postcount=6) tool - the sequences need to be in S2 format first - there might be an S1 converter somewhere but if you have LOR S2 SW, just load the S1 format sequence and resave it and it will convert to S2. Then use the converter to convert to Vixen format.

For Vixen, just use either the Enttec DMX Open or Enttec DMX Pro plug-in (DIY dongles use this one) with your DMX dongle and it will spit out DMX across the wire to whatever you have plugged in. Read the documentation on your particular LOR controller to ensure it can actually run DMX first. There is documentation on the LOR site to tell you how to set the DMX address on the LOR controllers. DMX can have 512 channels so you would assign the first controller to address #1 and, assuming it's a 16 channel controller, assign #17 to the next, and so on. You then just connect the dongle to the first controller and daisy-chain (as you do now with LOR SW) the controllers.
