How about allowing .asm, .bas, .vix and maybe .sch filetypes? Also, some people might also like to have the various file extensions that might be needed for other types of source files (.c, .c++, etc). Hopefully all of these are safe to use as attachments.

Couldn't we just zip the various file type to make it easy

That would be too easy, but would work for most things that I want to do.

The other thing that I (think) that I would like to do, though, is the usual trick that was done on cc, namely to attach a file (usually an image) to a message and then provide an img link to that file. I don't know if an attached file can be 'linked to' here like it could over there (so that it appears within the flow of text in a message). Or do I still need to find some other place to store a file so that I can create a link to it.

To do something like that, you can put the image in the album and link to it. i saw it done with the Grich picture.

I have added the 4 specific file extensions to the allowable list. Could you tell me what asm and bas files are for?

If I am correct in my understanding of what Phil is looking for an image can be embedded into a post via the siteimg tags as a thumbnail and the full size image is viewable when clicking on the thumbnail.

The .asm is for assembly language source files (for the PIC, at first, but probably valid for most processors), and the .bas is my imagined suffix for BASIC source files (can anyone verify this)?

And we need to increase the file size allowance too.

The Attachment is too big.
Max Size: 256 KB

I had the GRINCH Manual ready to post, and at 778k, I cant post it.

Could we have 2M, either as a general file size, or by special arrangement?

John.

I have upped the file attachment size to 1mb. Lets see how that goes for now.

Well, if he has the same hosting that I have - it comes with 6GB of space, 250GB of data for a whole $3.99 a month.
