I was wondering if anyone has a old version of the classic game speak and spell. I found some versions on the net that replicate the game but cannot do certain things. I was wondering with the classic game can you make it say words you spell like Merry Christmas lol. I want to put that in my intro.

Thanks
John

you can do it with your pc. turn on narrator in accessabilitys in xp and you can have it read your stuff.

ATT Labs has a text to speech converter with different voices and allows you to then download the file.

I do have one.
I saved it from being chucked out during our cleanup.
Its an original red speak and spell from so many years ago. still works too :)

Im moving at the moment but I could break it out and do something for you if I get some time after I get everything setup.

If you have Excel 2007+ add this macro then type something into a cell and run it.

Sub Say()

Application.Speech.Speak (ActiveCell.Text)

End Sub

Google search for a Speak & Spell emulator.

Here is one

I had one when I was a kid. I don't remember it saying what you want. It only had a certain group of words. If you wanted more, you had to buy a new cartridge with a different group of words. I think an emulator or jboyles trick will be the way to go.

This works well, got me distracted for a little while. I didn't know you could do that.

I stumbled on it in a VBA book. But, after the first "this is cool" moments (ok, day). I actually created a couple of macros I use at work that speak a selected range of cells to me. I use it to cross reference lists. It is like having an assistant that reads lists to you while you validate in another document. No more flipping between windows, or aligning horizontally. ;-)

Concur with WakeFan... don't believe it woudl say the words that you wanted - only what it had in its list...

Found a manual on the web that confirmed this:

and for way much more than you ever wanted to know about them:
