Renard Simple Series

The Renard Simple series will be offering three new controllers next year. They will all include triacs. The first of such is now being tested as a prototype it is based on P. Shorts original Simple 16 concept and Scorpia’s PCB design. I added optos and triacs to the prototype. You will be able to install low power triacs BTA04 or high power triacs BTA16 or just about any type in between. You can use multiple PIC18Fxxxx devices and three different baud rates 19.2k, 57,6K and 115k baud with a clock rate up to 64mhz depending on which PIC device you use, there are no start addresses to select or set , the firmware is easily selectable for your device. I will test the first Renard Simple TR16 prototype this Christmas season and push it to the 40 amp maximum. If all goes well Scorpia will spin off some PCB’s then we’ll do some testing and after that’s complete we will make them available to all. Here are two pictures to give you an idea, right now there are low power heat sinks installed I will be installing high power ones for the high current testing.

More testing on the Renard Simple series, You can ow use the Crydom High Power Solid State Relays from 10 amps to 40amps for high current applications. example high current flood lights in access of 10 amps in the non dimming mode, I have not had any luck with DMX using Vixen at this point, maybe I am doing something wrong but the period just seems too short for the Crydom turn on time. The Renard Simple will trigger the devices at the 254% level and I have tried three different types of Crydom SSR, (SCR) relays and the all work, I am running eight channels of floods totaling 35 amps with no problems using an 74LS240 as an inverter buffer for the Crydom SSR's off of the Simple Renard PIC18F4525 device output pins.

That was on the LOR PCB's running DMX, so far I can only get the Renards to work with Vixen and Crydom SSR's, sorry about the confusion
