Last night I met up with a friend that has used LoR for the last several years. (I'm working on converting him to DIY;)) He brought over 4 of his 16 channel LoR boards and we tested the Helix with them. I simulated running a 512 channel DMX sequence through them by assigning one of the boards to receive the first 16 channels, and another board the last 16 channels. I then ran a five minute test sequence that sent them 512 channels with a 50ms event period. The Helix controlled the LoR boards without a hitch.
I was pretty sure that this would be possible but now I've been able to confirm it. The only thing that makes it difficult is you have to build a custom cable to connect the Helix Main Board to the first LoR board. There are instructions in the Main Board Assembly Manual on how to do this.
If anyone wants to make the leap from LoR to standalone DIY the Helix will allow you to do it.
