I am in the process of my first Christmas display, I have decided to use lit-o-rama using 3000 channels. I was also looking at the virtual design 3rd party add-on by Holidaysoft. Has any one used this ? does it work. There forum is down and did no know if this is a usable product since the forum date is 2007. Can anyone suggest a package

3000 channels? That has to be a typo since it's not evenly divisible by 16.
Check on the LOR forums at http://lightorama.mywowbb.com/. They can defiantly give you the low-down.

Very large channel count, are you going to use CCRS or equivelant?
If you are really going to use 3000 channels, yu might want to conside LightShowPro for your sequencing software.

OldCQR thank you for your response
3000 estimated I assume you dont have to use all 16 channels of a controller that has been connected.....

CCRS ? I am a newbee Light-o-Rama, I have been in the lighting undustry DMX512 but is seems the Light-o-rama is easer to use. I also use LightJockey and some other DMX512 software.

Maybe some of your profressional experience will bleed over and hlep, but I can't imagine getting 3000 Channels setup and sequenced in time for Christmas 2010.
You are also looking at least $35K in Light-O-Rama controllers. Correct?

CCRS...= pixel based hardware and if you have not looked at LSP I would at least suggest that you look at some of the videos on the LSP home page, especially the new RGB stuff. and yes you can use DMX with LSP.

Wow, OK.
One would have hoped that before you jumped in with nearly $40,000 in equipment, and probably as much to support the power requirements and the like for that many channels, you would have researched that a little.
The LOR forums are going to be your best bet. We're just a bunch of DIYers around here.

Any chance that perhaps this is a question of 3000 BLUBS... not channels?
That might explain the presence here on the DIY forum, as well as an expectation that this could be developped in time for December 2010

3000 channels, I have allot of small displays that use 16-32 channels each.
My estimate so far its going to cost $64K I am still shopping for the best lights and controllers. The Lit-o-rama 16 channel starter should be here today
